AWA Youth Dual League
Purpose: The goal is to get young and beginner wrestlers mat experience with a low stress environment. This will be an opportunity to learn the rules and procedures of a wrestling match and dual. Good sportsmanship will be learned from positive encouragement from coaches and teammates. The League will be a six team round robin with one dual a week for five weeks.
Procedure: First, teams will be led through a group warm-up. After, there will be a 30 minute technique session focusing on common and key wrestling positions for beginner wrestlers. Last teams will wrestle one dual, which coaches representing the teams will referee the matches.
Matches: Will wrestle three periods of one minute. Penalties, such as locked hands are to be stopped and explained to wrestler that it is illegal, but not penalized points.
